Correction from yesterday–Braves P Mike Hampton has torn cartilage, not a torn ligament, in his knee.
1) Rangers P Frank Francisco was arrested on aggravated battery charges and returned to the team after posting a $15,000 bond.
2) The Yankees activated 1B-DH Jason Giambi from the DL, called up INFs Andy Phillips and Felix Escalona and P Scott Proctor and released minor league P Danny Borrell.
After 75 RCAA/1.034 OPS and 51 RCAA/.939 OPS seasons, Giambi is hitting .397 SLG, .358 OBA, .755 OPS, 1 RCAA in his first 71 games. He has a .954 career OPS, compared to his league average of .775, and 446 RCAA in 1335 games.
Escalona had -14 RCAA/.547 OPS in 69 games with the 2002-03 Devil Rays.
Proctor has a 5.06 ERA/-1 RSAA in his first 21 career games.
3) The Expos activated Ps Tomo Ohka and Jon Rauch from the DL.
After 3.18 ERA/21 RSAA and 4.16 ERA/21 RSAA seasons, Ohka has a 3.01 ERA/9 RSAA in 12 starts. He has a 3.89 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.34, and 52 RSAA in 121 games.

4) Astros P Wade Miller says he’s being shut down for the remainder of the season.
Miller has been on the DL since June 26, due to a rotator cuff injury, and will meet with a specialist, Dr. Lewis Yocum. The team is hoping that just resting is what he needs to be ready for next season.
After 3.28 ERA/19 RSAA and 4.13 ERA/7 RSAA seasons, Miller had a 3.35 ERA/11 RSAA in 15 starts. He has a 3.87 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.33, and 57 RSAA in 127 games.
5) The Braves called up P Dan Meyer.
6) The Devil Rays called up Ps John Webb and Todd Ritchie and placed P Jesus Colome on the 60 day DL.
Ritchie has a 4.67 ERA/-14 RSAA in 180 career games.
7) Indians P Kazuhito Tadano has a bulging disc in his lower back and will probably miss the rest of the season.
Tadano has a 4.65 ERA/-1 RSAA in his first 14 career games (5 starts).
8) The A’s called up P Jairo Garcia and sent P Justin Lehr to the minors.
Garcia has a 11.57 ERA/-4 RSAA in his first 3 career games.

9) Pirates P Sean Burnett was diagnosed with a tear in his elbow and may need Tommy John surgery.

10) Twins 2B Luis Rivas has been out of the lineup for the past 10 days, after having surgery to have his toenails removed, and expects to return tomorrow.
After -12 RCAA/.697 OPS and -23 RCAA/.689 OPS seasons, Rivas is off to a .412 SLG, .277 OBA, .689 OPS, -14 RCAA in his first 102 games. He has a .690 career OPS, compared to his league average of .765, and -71 RCAA in 499 games.
11) The Mets called up C Joe Hietpas.
