The Giants dropped their contractual right to void Bonds’s contract for the 2006 season if he (1) failed to have 500 PA next year or (2) failed to have both 1500 PA from 2003-05 at least 400 in 2005.

1) Devil Rays manager Lou Piniella insists that he will stay with the team next season. There have been rumors that the Mets are interested in him as Art Howe’s successor.
2) The Dodgers will activate P Brad Penny from the DL.
After 4.66 ERA/-10 RSAA and 4.13 ERA/-3 RSAA seasons, Penny is off to a 3.02 ERA/16 RSAA in his first 23 starts (first 21 with the Marlins). He has a 4.01 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.34, and 9 RSAA in 133 games.
3) Orioles 1B Rafael Palmeiro is day to day, due to a strained right hamstring.
After 41 RCAA/.962 OPS and 18 RCAA/.867 OPS seasons, Palmeiro is hitting .432 SLG, .369 OBA, .800 OPS, 1 RCAA in his first 142 games. He has a .889 career OPS, compared to his league average of .755, and 563 RCAA in 2709 games.
4) The Redsox called up P Byung-Hyun Kim.
After 2.04 ERA/23 RSAA and 3.31 ERA/20 RSAA seasons, Kim has a 6.17 ERA/-2 RSAA in just 3 starts. He has a 3.33 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.40, and 61 RSAA in 295 games.
5) Angels 2B Adam Kennedy will miss the rest of the season, due to torn ligaments in his right knee.
6) The BlueJays sent P Aquilino Lopez outright to the minors. Lopez, who was already in the minors, had been removed from the 40 man roster when he was designated for assignment on Monday.
