7) Tigers C Ivan Rodriguez has a fracture in his right hand, but says he expects to continue to play.
Rodriguez was hit around the bottom of his thumb, near the palm, by a foul ball yesterday. After 17 RCAA/.843 OPS and 29 RCAA/.893 OPS seasons, Rodriguez is off to a .433 SLG, .294 OBA, .727 OPS, -4 RCAA start in his first 45 games. 1) The Indians activated RF Juan Gonzalez from the DL and designated OF Ryan Ludwick for assignment.
On his first AB of the season, Gonzalez reaggravated his hamstring injury and is probably going right on the DL.
Ludwick has -9 RCAA/.716 OPS in 104 career games, including a .512 SLG, .333 OBA, .846 OPS, 1 RCAA in 19 games in 2005.
2) Redsox CF Johnny Damon had to leave yesterday’s game, a half inning after colliding with the OF wall. He had scratches and bruises and needed stitches, but had no signs of a concussion.
After 2 RCAA/.750 OPS and 25 RCAA/.857 OPS seasons, Damon is hitting .457 SLG, .404 OBA, .861 OPS, 15 RCAA in his first 49 games. He has a .784 career OPS, compared to his league average of .774, and 87 RCAA in 1456 games.
3) The Tigers sent 1B Carlos Pena to the minors and called up 1B Chris Shelton.

6) The Angels will activate P Francisco Rodriguez from the DL today.
After 3.03 ERA/11 RSAA and 1.82 ERA/26 RSAA seasons, Rodriguez is off to a 2.25 ERA/4 RSAA start in his first 14 games. He has a 2.35 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.56, and 44 RSAA in 147 games.
7) The Twins called up INF Brent Abernathy and OF Michael Ryan, sent INF Terry Tiffee to the minors and placed 2B Luis Rivas on the 15 day DL.
Abernathy, who hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2003, has -37 RCAA/.623 OPS in 208 career games.
Ryan has 2 RCAA/.813 OPS in 70 career games.

8) Yankees P Paul Quantrill (3 games) and manager Joe Torre (1 game) were suspended after Quantrill threw at Tigers INF Jason Smith last week.
Quantrill is taking the unusual step of not appealing and started serving his suspension yesterday. After 1.75 ERA/19 RSAA and 4.72 ERA/-3 RSAA seasons, he is off to a 6.53 ERA/-6 RSAA start in his first 15 games. Quantrill has a 3.79 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.49, and 105 RSAA in 806 games.

9) The Mariners called up SS Mike Morse and designated SS Wilson Valdez for assignment.
Morse was 0 for 1, with a BB, in his major league debut.

10) The Astros sent P Ezequiel Astacio to the minors and called up INF Chris Burke.

11) The Nationals placed P Zach Day on the 15 day DL, retroactive to May 26.
Day has a broken right wrist. He had been sent to the minors last week, but the move was voided as a result of the injury. Nationals GM Jim Bowden said the team was close to trading Day before the injury was uncovered.
Bowden also says, “I believe in Zach Day.” So, he believes in him enough to trade him. And, given what Day’s market value has to be, it can’t be a case of believing in a player, but having to deal him because you could still get more back than him.
12) The Braves designated RF Raul Mondesi for assignment when they activated P Mike Hampton from the DL.
Hampton had to leave after 4 innings, due to tightness in his arm. After 3.84 ERA/7 RSAA and 4.28 ERA/0 RSAA seasons, Hampton is off to a 1.83 ERA/16 RSAA start in his first 9 starts. He has a 3.93 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.32, and 95 RSAA in 372 games.
13) The Reds released P Danny Graves.
14) A MRI on Dodgers CF Milton Bradley shows he has a slight ligament tear in his right ring finger and manager Jim Tracy says he’ll be out until at least Friday.
