“The New York Mets will be facilitating activities that directly violate international law”
If you were to tell me that a Major League team bumbled its way into an international incident, I would immediately say “The Mets. It was the Mets, right?” I mean, is there any other possible answer?
Does this mean Hillary won’t throw out the first pitch?
Oh, I thought this could have been something serious, like a scandal in the Dominican or something.
The nice thing is, if the complaints about The Hebron Fund get anti-semitic, and they might, the Mets come out looking better than before.
ME, a few months ago: “Well, at least it can’t get any worse.”
I was so young and naive then…
The Mets are the new Clippers.
Word is that since Tuesday alone the Mets have received well over 1000 emails, phone calls and letters asking them to cancel the event, but that they are digging in their heels and refusing to bow out gracefully. One Mets staffer told a caller today that they are being “bombarded.”
Seems like the settlers in Hebron don’t have many friends. Three of the groups calling for the Mets to cancel the event are Israeli and one of the main US groups demanding cancellation is Jewish Voice for Peace:

I don’t if it was funny or inevitable that George Mitchell’s name also appears in that article.
Blame Bernie Madoff!
Funny that this story comes out on the day it is announced that the 9/11 hijackers will be tried in NYC. The natural expansion of settlements to accomodate children don’t matter as much as two fallen buildings and 3,000 dead/ Tell that to CAIR and the AADC
Glen – sorry if I offended or angered. I just can’t be neutral, having conducted baseball clinics in Israel and visited the victims of the Sbarro bombings. My daugther was also a blaock away from a random bombing during the Maccabiah Games.
I’ll promise to keep my politicsm especailly when it is something on which i would not give, out of the blog from now on.
““The Mets. It was the Mets, right?” I mean, is there any other possible answer? “
Well, the Natinals (sic), of course!
That was my thought exactly, Oliver.
AMERICA!!! What a country………. it’s not illegal until you get caught and then, when caught, you are presumed guilty until proven innocent. So much for laws.
The real issue here is that political correctness has gone too far and skewed all of our perceptions to the point where we don’t want to offend anyone even if it means breaking the law in order to not offend someone.
“Well, the Natinals (sic), of course!”
To me, the Nats are more baseball oriented so a story like “Guess who signed Juan Gonzalez to a 3-year contract?” I’d guess the Nats, followed by a story about Gonzalez needing prostate surgery. International incident? Def. Mets.
Bob Tufts – meet apples and oranges. Oranges, Apples – meet Bob Tufts
In a world of 7 billion people it’s amazing how a group of 13 million can cause so many problems. Yes, that was sarcastic.
If the Jewish Voice for “Peace” is against it, I’m for it.
This isn’t a Mets story at all. I think this basically a rental of the facilities at the new park. That’s all. It’s not an endorsement of any political view. And I don’t think that most other spaces in New York would reject business because it’s political.
