The graphics next to each team are called “sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each “up” bar is a victory and a “down” bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and gray bars represent games decided by two runs or less. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

The Giants beat the Mets in twelve innings, 7-6. Steve Trachsel had a good start for the Mets, but the Giants scored three in the eighth—the last on a bases-loaded walk—and both teams scored two in the tenth to keep it tied. David Wright hit two home runs for the Mets while Lastings Milledge hit his first major league homer.

The following stats are provided by Hit Tracker, which logs the projected distance of each home run (if it flew uninterrupted back to field level) and its “standard” distance, which is corrected for weather conditions. Note the difference between the two on all home runs hit in Wrigley.

THT’s Stats
The double is often the overlooked power number. This year, Mike Lowell has staged a remarkable comeback for the Red Sox, when many baseball commentators had given up on him. His double total is certainly helped by Fenway Park (15 doubles at home) but his comeback is legit; he’s batting .322 at home and .318 on the road and most of his homers have been hit on the road.
