The graphics next to each team are called “sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each “up” bar is a victory and a “down” bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and gray bars represent games decided by two runs or less. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

Game of the Day
The highly anticipated matchup of two hotshot pitching prospects, Felix Hernandez and Francisco Liriano, lived up to the hype. Liriano, in just his second start this year, shut out the Mariners for five innings. Hernandez was also on, but gave up three runs in seven, including Joe Mauer’s home run.

Yesterday’s Home Runs
The following stats are provided by Hit Tracker, which logs the projected distance of each home run (if it flew uninterrupted back to field level) and its “standard” distance, which is corrected for weather conditions.
Vladimir Guerrero “shattered” this year’s shortest home run record, with a 258-foot inside-the-park job. Previously, the shortest home run had been Jason Lane’s 328-foot homer on April 17, which actually cleared the fence.
