Heat from the Futures Game
If you saw the 2010 Futures Game you got a chance to see some live arms. We took a look at the left-handed Futures pitchers already, and we’ll come across them again as we run down the speed of all the pitchers’ fastballs.
On an evening where 14 of the 20 pitchers had an average fastball over 94 mph and none below 92, Tanner Scheppers, Jeurys Familia, Julio Teheran and Henderson Alvarez stood out. Each posted an average speed over 96, and they did it over at least 10 pitches. Scheppers and Familia averaged over 98, with Scheppers pushing 99—on average, he broke 100 on one pitch and 99 on four others.
