Want to see the guy who was the heart and soul of the Hardball Times for our first couple of years? Take a look… That’s Aaron Gleeman, who’s become so famous that they’re now painting his portrait. Which just scares the heck out of me.
The Wall Street Journal considers whether Joe Torre is worth the money, with help from our own “Mr. Gassko.”
Ugh. The Giants lose to their AAA affiliate, Fresno. A sign of things to come? Absolutely.
Phil Birnbaum continues to research the issue of why and how pitchers seem to hone in on 20 wins. The biggest surprise is that their offenses tend to let them down after winning the 20th game. I wonder if managers tend to rest their regulars more often in those games?

Rays fans over at DRaysBay certainly think so.
Not really important from a baseball perspective, but it’s kind of awesome that current Marlins minor league manager Dean Treanor was an undercover cop in San Luis Obispo, Calif. back in the day.
The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Giants ticket sales are suffering now that they don’t have Barry Bonds or a competitive team. Their sales still seem strong overall though. Hilariously, Giants commercials on Fox Sports Bay Area right now are touting the Giants as division contenders. I wonder if fans in Pittsburgh or Kansas […]
