Fangraphs has posted a WPA review of the All-Star game. The graph reflects the tight game and Michael Young’s ninth-inning two-run triple was worth over one full win to the NL. The most crucial situations were Young’s at bat (9.1 Leverage Index) and Carlos Lee’s last at bat against Mariano Rivera (6.1 Leverage Index).

Peter Gammons, the ESPN commentator and perhaps the best baseball columnist of our time, has been stricken ill with a brain aneurysm. There is no word yet on his condition or prognosis. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Peter.
