Win Shares are current through games of September 6th, including all player’s career totals. The Great Pujols is starting to pull away from the rest of the MVP field, but the AL MVP race is still too close to call.

65 years ago today, Ray Chapman became the only player to die from injuries sustained during a major league game. You can read about Chapman, and the pitcher who threw the infamous pitch, Carl Mays, in Dan Holmes’ blog.
