6) Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez set a Yankee Stadium record with 8 HR in the stadium in April, breaking the mark of 5, set by Lou Gehrig (1933) and Paul O’Neill (2001). Rodriguez passed Johnny Bench and tied Graig Nettles for 44th place on the all time HR list, with 390.

After 53 RCAA/.995 OPS and 35 RCAA/.888 OPS seasons, Rodriguez is hitting .618 SLG, .349 OBA, .966 OPS, 8 RCAA in his first 24 games. He has a .955 career OPS, compared to his league average of .774, and 443 RCAA in 1454 games.


1) Bud Selig sent a letter this week to the union proposing a 50 game suspension for a 1st steroid offense, 100 for a 2nd a lifetime ban for a 3rd.

2) Nationals P Zach Day was scratched from yesterday’s start, due to an inner ear infection.

After 4.18 ERA/14 RSAA and 3.93 ERA/2 RSAA seasons, Day is off to a 5.09 ERA/-3 RSAA start in his first 4 starts (5 games). He has a 4.09 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.27, and 15 RSAA in 66 games.

3) Phillies 1B Jim Thome had to leave yesterday’s game, due to lower back spasms.

After 53 RCAA/.958 OPS and 43 RCAA/.977 OPS seasons, Thome is hitting .304 SLG, .347 OBA, .651 OPS, -4 RCAA in his first 24 games. He has a .975 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 567 RCAA in 1703 games.

4) The Giants called up P Brad Hennessey and sent P Scott Munter to the minors.

Hennessey will start today. It would have normally been Jason Schmidt’s turn, but he was pushed back a day after throwing 131 pitches on Tuesday. Hennessey had a 4.98 ERA/-2 RSAA in 7 starts in 2004.

Munter still hasn’t made his major league debut.

5) The Marlins will place P Guillermo Mota on the 15 day DL today.

6) The Whitesox placed 1B-OF Ross Gload on the 15 day DL and called up INF Pedro Lopez.
