This has almost nothing to do with baseball, but I’ve got to tell you about it anyway. Two of my favorite subjects are graphics and food, and someone has combined them into a fascinating Food Timeline. The scale isn’t accurate (like xkcd’s universal height chart is), but who cares. The Food Timeline is full of […]
Joe Posnanski reads the Hardball Times Annual and starts reminiscing about Dave Kingman. Just another offbeat reason you should order your copy today.
Rich Lederer has the entire roster of arbitration decisions on his site, as well as comments on each team’s decisions.
Our RSS feeds have been challenged by the number of blogs we’re now running (curse you, Calcaterra!). I think I’ve fixed them so that all the links and feeds work properly, but please let me know if you find a problem with any of our RSS feeds. We’ve now got over twelve of them — […]

Here is an excellent article by Bill Conlin over at Philly.com, talking about the hip injury of Chase Utley. Needless to say, Utley was likely playing through pain during most, if not all of the season. Just another reason why he is one of my favorite players of all-time.

To use Dave’s example, when people say stuff like “David DeJesus is a very good center fielder, but his bat makes him just an average left fielder,” they’re forgetting that DeJesus’s defense will increase his “runs prevented” over a replacement left fielder (compared to a […]
