In the latest round of PrOPS (NL, AL) I have made a small change. Washington has been such an extreme pitchers park this year that I had to make an in-season adjustment. So, the numbers for the Nationals have been updated to reflect this, giving the players a boost in their PrOPS.

Wade Boggs and Ryne Sandberg will be inducted into Cooperstown’s Baseball Hall of Fame today, a wonderful time and place to celebrate baseball’s history. You can catch the events on the Hall of Fame’s website or in Dan Holmes’s blog.

The Hardball Times is happy to present our newest statistical feature: individual player pages. Now you can view all 2005 stats for a player on his individual page—just search by his last name in the search box on the left, or from our main Statistics page. Once again, many thanks to the hard-working Bryan Donovan.

Not Abner Doubleday, not even Alexander Cartwright. According to this article by the eminent John Thorn, the real inventors of modern-day baseball were Adams, Wheaton and Wadsworth, with a nod to Cartwright. If you have any interest in baseball’s history, this is a must.
