Around the Majors: Cardinals clinch

The next edition of the sabermetric baseball encyclopedia, which will include the 2005 statistics, is now available to be preordered in many of the packages in my ebay store. The store consists of more than 200 baseball books, magazines, DVDs, cards and yearbooks and more are added each day.

The highlights of my current auctions are a bunch of Alex Rodriguez baseball cards, a few of which predate his rookie season and show him in his high school uniform.

The ones that say encyclopedia with 2005 stats in the 2nd line are the ones that include the preorder of the next edition. There are (and will be for a little while) packages there that have not yet been amended to include the new edition. If you are interested in any of them, please contact me and I’ll get that one amended for you.

While Jones is touted as a potential winner of the silly MVP award, he has a too close to call battle for the MVBNJ award (Most Valuable Brave Named Jones).

BRAVES RCAA
Chipper Jones 32
Andruw Jones 31

Even if we were to limit MVP candidates to those whose first names start with A, Jones is not only not a worthy candidate, but it is far from clear that he should even be a runner up–

1 Albert Pujols 74
2 Adam Dunn 32

2) Tigers P Troy Percival will meet with Dr. Lewis Yocum tomorrow to find out whether he needs surgery on a torn muscle in his forearm. If he needs surgery, he’ll miss all of 2006, so Percival says he will retire.
