Around the Majors: Randy Johnson rumors

1) The Yankees and Diamondbacks have reportedly made a lot of progress on a Randy Johnson trade. According to NY Newsday, only “mostly loose ends” have to be worked out. According to the NY Daily News, Johnson’s told some of his Diamondbacks teammates that he’s going to the Yankees.

2) The Mets signed free agents SS Chris Woodward and P Manny Aybar to minor league contracts.

After 4 RCAA/.797 OPS and -10 RCAA/.711 OPS seasons, Woodward had a .347 SLG, .298 OBA, .630 OPS, -15 RCAA in 69 games. He’s spent his whole career with the BlueJays and has a .699 career OPS, compared to his league average of .767, and -39 RCAA in 351 games.

Aybar has a 5.05 ERA/-23 RSAA in 186 career games.

3) The Nationals signed OF Michael Coleman to a minor league contract.

Coleman has -8 RCAA/.457 OPS in 22 career games.
